A633 grade C plates API 650 SUG I tanks
Allowable Design StressesThe maximum allowable design stresses for the API 650 SUG I tanks materials outlined in Q.2.1 shall be in accordance with Table Q-3.The values for the allowable design tensile stress given in Table Q-3 for materials other than bolting steel are the lesser of (a) 331/3% of the specified minimum ultimate tensile strength for the material or (b) 662/3% of the specified minimum yield strength, but they are 75% of the specified minimum yield strength for the stainless steel, nickel alloy, and aluminum materials. Allowable test stresses are based on the limitation of API 620 oil tank storage standard Q.8.1.3.
If additional requirements are met, higher internal pressures are allowed. API 650 only covers tanks that support the whole bottom evenly and API 650 SUG I tanks tanks in non-refrigerated service that have a maximum design temperature of 200 degrees F. It requires that you have a minimum material thickness of 3/16 inch.
This customer is a leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction company serving the Hydrocarbon and Chemical industries spanning Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, Fertilizer and related sectors in India. The A335 Grade P5 Steel Pipe and P9 API 650 SUG I tanks Seamless Steel Pipe we supplied is for EIL refineries project.
}API 650 SUG I tanks weld tightness test: remove dirt from the API 650 SUG I tanks weld, apply white powder emulsion, spray kerosene on the other side of the weld after drying. Because of the strong penetration of kerosene, if kerosene is sprayed after 12 hours (under low temperature conditions, the time can be extended), if the surface of the welded seam coated with white emulsion has no spots, the welded seam meets the requirements.
