ISO 630 grade E355 quality D plates API 650 austenitic stainless steel storage tanks
In cylindrical tank walls, the longitudinal weld joints in adjacent shell courses, including compression ring welds, shall be offset from each other a minimum distance of 12 in. The butt-weld around the periphery of a thickened insert plate, or the fillet weld around the periphery of a reinforcing plate, shall be at least the greater of 10 times the shell thickness or 12 in. from any butt-welded seam or the bottom-to-shell or roof-to-shell joint. As an alternative, the insert plate (or the API 650 austenitic stainless steel storage tanks reinforcing plate in an assembly that does not require stress relief) may extend to and intersect a flat-bottom-to-shell corner joint at approximately 90 degrees.
The API 650 specification provides guidelines for the API 650 austenitic stainless steel storage tanks design, manufacturing, materials, installation and inspection of welded vertical and cylindrical tanks. Such containers must be on the ground and have a closed or open top.
Due to irregular operation of API 650 austenitic stainless steel storage tanks welding, there are many weld deformations during the construction process. Before specific operations, most construction units have formulated relatively complete construction plans and set up special welding process instructions, but the operators have not fully performed welding in accordance with various process guidance requirements and construction specifications, resulting in some quality problems of oil storage tanks. How can we reduce or even avoid this kind of situation?
