A516 Gr 55 plates API standard 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks
When encountering heavy rain or continuous heavy rainfall, the safe operation of API standard 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks will be affected. For example: the API standard 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks is submerged, the oil unloading valve and the flame arrester valve are broken by water and the oil tank leaks. The oil tank area must do emergency work to prevent rainstorm to ensure the safety of the oil tank. Here are some safety protection measures for API standard 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks in heavy rain.
The thickness of the API standard 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks annular bottom plates shall be in accordance with Table Q-4 (for steel or aluminum, as applicable). The thicknesses shown are minimums. The ring of annual plates shall have a circular outside circumference, but it may have a regular polygonal shape inside the tank shell with the number of sides equal to the number of annular plates. These pieces shall be butt-welded in accordance with Q.7.1.1, Item b. The plates of the first shell course shall be attached to the annular bottom plates by a weld as required by API 620 oil tank 5.9.5 except when a full-penetration weld is used or required (see Q.7.1.1). Butt-welds in annular plates shall be not closer than 12 in. from any vertical weld.
According to API Standard 650, the stairs used for API 650 petroleum storage tanks or thermal insulation tanks should be double longitudinal beams supported by a minimum of ribs. If the gap between the API standard 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks tank shell and the stringer of the API 650 petroleum storage tank exceeds 200mm, handrails should be provided on both sides of the stairs. Unless otherwise specified, according to API standard 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks ASTM A123, the following accessories shall be hot-dip galvanized. The damaged zinc coating should be repaired with zinc alloy.
