API standard 650 unanchored flat-bottom tank corroded thickness
Our team is a dynamic, but also mature and steady team. The talents are made of different ages. There are experienced ones, and also creative ones, that also makes our company culture diversified. We have complete department structure, to make the whole work procedure run smoothly. For every step, we have special person to be in charge and responsible for our customer and update information to the customer in time. So you just need not worry too much to purchase steel materials from our company.
The specifications used in the design of large oil tanks, API standard 650 unanchored flat-bottom tank mainly include American Petroleum Institute Standard API 650, Japanese Industrial Standard JIS B8501, British Industrial Standard BS2654 and Chinese National Standard GB50341 from a global perspective. The formulas used in each specification are based on the hoop stress in the membrane theory. Each specification is based on the performance characteristics of materials and the construction technology level of their respective countries to determine the allowable stresses and weld coefficients. Therefore, the calculation results of tank wall thickness of API standard 650 unanchored flat-bottom tank with the same volume are sometimes quite different according to different specifications.
Test plates shall be welded using the same qualified welding procedure and electrodes that are required for the tank shell plate joints. The API 620 steel storage tank test plates need not be welded as an extension of the tank shell joint but shall be welded in the required qualifying positions. One test weld shall be made on a set of plates from each specification and grade of API standard 650 unanchored flat-bottom tank plate material, using a thickness that would qualify for all thicknesses in the shell. Each test welded of thickness t shall qualify for plate thicknesses from 2t down to t/2, but not less than 5/8 in. For plate thicknesses less than 5/8 in., a test weld shall be made for the thinnest shell plate to be welded; this test weld will qualify plate thicknesses from t up to 2t.
