API Spec 5L pipe API Std 650 self-anchored storage tanks
When the API Std 650 self-anchored storage tanks top shell course is the minimum thickness indicated in 5.10.4, Table 5-6 and Figure 5-6, details a – e, h and i, the minimum anchorage shall be designed for normal loads as specified by the Purchaser and by this standard. See 5.11.2.3 for the allowable stress. When the top shell course is thickened beyond the minimum thickness provided in Table 5-6 or as in Figure 5-6, details f and g, or a knuckle is used, the minimum anchorage shall be designed for three times the internal design pressure. The allowable stress for this loading is 90% of the minimum specified yield strength of anchorage material.
This standard only applies to API 650 storage tanks API Std 650 self-anchored storage tanks with uniform bottom support and non-refrigerated service storage tanks with a maximum design temperature of not more than 93 degrees Celsius (200 degrees Fahrenheit).
The longer the service life of the API Std 650 self-anchored storage tanks, the lower the reliability and the prone to failure. Doing a good job in the maintenance of the metal oil tank can ensure the normal use of the oil tank, reduce the wear of the API Std 650 self-anchored storage tanks body and accessories, and extend the service life of the oil tank. The maintenance of metal oil tanks is mainly to do a good job in the anti-corrosion of the oil tank, the cleaning of the deposits in the API Std 650 self-anchored storage tanks and the overhaul of its accessories. Regularly inspect and maintain the accessories of the oil tank: valves, oil measuring holes, breathing valves, flame arresters, ladders, foam fire extinguishing generators, etc., and make records.
