A350 grade LF2 forgings API Std 650 mixed material tanks
The API 650 specification provides guidelines for the API Std 650 mixed material tanks design, manufacturing, materials, installation and inspection of welded vertical and cylindrical tanks. Such containers must be on the ground and have a closed or open top.
Prefabrication requirements for API Std 650 mixed material tanks, large vertical storage tanks:1. The machined surface of the edge of the steel plate should be smooth, and there should be no defects such as slag inclusion, delamination, cracks, etc., and the surface hardened layer produced by the flame cutting groove should be removed.2. Dimension deviation after steel plate processing: the deviation of plate width is less than 1.5 mm, the deviation of plate length is less than 2 mm, and the difference between diagonals is less than 3 mm.
In this project, a cylindrical tank 62 ft 6 in. in diameter is designed for an internal pressure of 4 lbf/in.2 gauge in the vapor space. The plate material is ASTM A131 steel with appropriate grades for different plate thicknesses in accordance with Table 4-1 for a design metal temperature less than 65°F but not less than 25°F. No corrosion allowance is required for any portion of the tank. The top course of the butt-welded cylindrical sidewall is 1/4 in. thick. The roof is a single lap-welded spherical dome with an internal radius of 50 ft and a thickness of 1/4 in. The maximum design liquid level is 6 in. below the plane of the juncture of the tank API Std 650 mixed material tanks roof and sidewall.
