API 650 austenitic stainless steel storage tanks Primary Components: In general, primary components include those components that may be stressed to a significant level, those whose failure would permit leakage of the liquid being stored, those exposed to a refrigerated temperature between –60°F and –270°F, and those that are subject to thermal shock. The primary components shall include, but will not be limited to, the following parts of a single-wall tank or of the inner tank in a double-wall tank: shell plates; bottom plates; roof plates; knuckle plates; compression rings; shell stiffeners; and manways and nozzles including reinforcement, shell anchors, pipe, tubing, forgings, and bolting.

The main prefabricated components of a large vertical API 650 austenitic stainless steel storage tanks include the tank body, the storage tank wall, the top of the storage tank, the bottom of the storage tank, and the accessories of the storage tank. The prefabrication of the components should follow a reasonable workflow, and carry out appropriate heat treatment and testing, so as to improve manufacturing accuracy.
