Construction requirements for API 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks
Our quality control department will do inspection for details of the steel materials API 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks before delivery. We would invite the customer side to attend the inspection together. If they can not come, we will also take rich pictures for them to check. Meanwhile, we will publish inspection report and send them the PDF version. Besides, we accept any third party inspection such as SGS, BV, etc. And our quality control department will support the third party to inspect the steel materials smoothly and try our best to deliver the qualified steel materials to customers earlier.
API 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks construction must adhere to the design drawings, acceptance specifications and construction plans. If the design needs to be modified during API 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks construction, it must be approved by the original design unit or Party A’s representative and relevant personnel of the supervision unit, and written visa procedures must be completed in advance. The equipment and main materials used in the oil tank construction project must have certificates of conformity and quality assurance.
Test plates shall be welded using the same qualified welding procedure and electrodes that are required for the tank shell plate joints. The API 620 steel storage tank test plates need not be welded as an extension of the tank shell joint but shall be welded in the required qualifying positions. One test weld shall be made on a set of plates from each specification and grade of API 650 carbon and low-alloy steel tanks plate material, using a thickness that would qualify for all thicknesses in the shell. Each test welded of thickness t shall qualify for plate thicknesses from 2t down to t/2, but not less than 5/8 in. For plate thicknesses less than 5/8 in., a test weld shall be made for the thinnest shell plate to be welded; this test weld will qualify plate thicknesses from t up to 2t.
