API Std 650 welded steel oil storage tanks anchored with mechanical devices

The cone slope of the completed API Std 650 welded steel oil storage tanks foundation is 15/1000 for the general foundation and less than 35/1000 for the soft foundation. After the foundation settlement of the storage tank is basically stable, the surface slope must be greater than eight thousandths. The edge of the tank bottom should be more than 0.3 meters higher than the surrounding ground. In this project a cylindrical tank 75 ft in diameter is designed for an internal pressure of 0.5 lbf/in.2 gauge in the vapor space. The plate material is ASTM A131 Grade B steel for thicknesses of 1/2 in. and less.
The top course of the butt-welded cylindrical sidewall is 1/4 in. thick. The tank API Std 650 welded steel oil storage tanks roof is a conical shape with a 2:12 slope and a 1/4 in. thickness with single full-fillet welded lap joints. The maximum design liquid level is 6 in. below the plane of juncture of the roof and sidewall.

This specification, in conjunction with API 650 Standard, prescribes minimum standards for the API Std 650 welded steel oil storage tanks design, supply, fabrication, erection, and testing of field erected welded steel storage tanks complete with accessories as specified herein and as shown on attached Datasheets and/or Drawings.
