API Std 650 horizontal tank subject to a small internal pressure
The API 650 is widely used for tanks designed to withstand low internal pressures, for the API Std 650 horizontal tank storage of typical products such as crude oil, petrol, chemicals and water. We have extensive experience when it comes to API 650 tanks, varying from tanks built in the factory up to +/- 500m3, to tanks built on-location up to +/-15,000 m3.
Facing the new situation and facing new goals, the company revolves around the sixteen-character development policy of “prioritizing production preservation, society-oriented, market operation, and brand creation and efficiency”. Layout the country in accordance with the modern logistics model, and accelerate the establishment of a modern integrated steel enterprise integrating steel storage, transportation, processing, and distribution.
The increased uplift described in API Standard 620 tank Appendix Q is intended to apply to the size of the ringwall and foundation but not the anchorage. For tanks with an internal design pressure of 1 lbf/in.2 gauge and over, the uplift, if any, shall be calculated under the combined conditions of 1.25 times the internal design condition plus the design wind load on the API Std 650 horizontal tank shell and roof.
The establishment of a correct method for evaluating the life of API Std 650 horizontal tank requires the preparation of criteria related to the strength and cracks of API Std 650 horizontal tank, mechanical damage mechanisms, corrosion mechanisms, and mathematical models of fatigue crack growth, etc., which are compiled into computer programs. In the process of programming the program, it is required to select the operating parameters, plates, reinforcement accessories, metal properties, corrosion levels, mechanical damage defects and other data of the oil storage tank under various conditions.
