API Std 650 flat-bottom tanks annular bottom plates

This standard applies only to API 650 tank API Std 650 flat-bottom tanks whose entire bottom is uniformly supported and to API 650 tank in non-refrigerated service that have a maximum design temperature of 93°C (200 °F) or less.

Proper use of API Std 650 flat-bottom tanks and precautions:
1. The API Std 650 flat-bottom tanks must be used within the safe height range;
2. Check before use to ensure that the safety valve and breathing valve are flexible and easy to use;
3. The explosion-proof and fire-proof safety measures for oil tanks are implemented effectively;
4. The oil level in the API Std 650 flat-bottom tanks should be accurately measured when receiving and delivering oil, so as to prevent overflow or empty;
5. In the process of receiving and sending oil, the flow rate of oil should be controlled, and it should not be too fast to avoid electrostatic accidents.

Impact Requirements for Controlled-rolled or Thermo-mechanical Control Process (TMCP) Plates: Subject to the approval of the Purchaser, controlled-rolled or TMCP plates (material produced by a mechanical- thermal rolling process designed to enhance the notch toughness) may be used where normalized plates are required. API 620 welded storage tanks each used plate, as rolled, shall be Charpy V-notch tested to the requirements of R.2.1.2.
