API standard 650 self-anchored tank limitations
Large Steel storage tank AnchorageIn addition to the loads in API 620 oil storage tank Q.4, Q.5.1, and Q.5.2, the anchorage for the tank that contains liquid, whether it be a single-wall tank or the inner tank of a double-wall tank, shall be designed to meet the requirements of Q.3.6.2 through Q.3.6.5. The anchorage shall accommodate movement of the tank wall and bottom caused by thermal changes. For anchored flat-bottom tanks, the anchorage shall be designed as described in Q.3.6.4.1 through Q.3.6.4.3.
BBN excels in the design, fabrication and erection of API-650 tanks. API (American Petroleum Institute) has created a set of standards for above ground API standard 650 self-anchored tank oil storage, but these tanks are also commonly used for gasoline, chemical and water storage. API-650 storage tank solutions range in size from an 8’ -0” diameter shop fabricated tank up to and beyond 100’ -0” diameter field erected storage tank applications.
Natural ventilation loss: the main cause of natural ventilation loss is that the API standard 650 self-anchored tank is not tightly sealed. This is usually due to corrosion perforation on the top of the oil tank, or there is a height difference between the two orifices. The air tightness of the mixture in the API standard 650 self-anchored tank is higher than that of the air, which causes the mixture gas in the tank to be discharged into the atmosphere from the lower hole, and the external air flows into the tank from the high hole, resulting in natural ventilation loss.
