API standard 650 low-alloy steel tanks thermal stress relief
Welding certification is regulated by Section 10 of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). For both API standard 650 low-alloy steel tanks storage tank API 650, non-destructive inspection is required, but third-party inspection is not required.
The thickness of the API standard 650 low-alloy steel tanks annular bottom plates shall be in accordance with Table Q-4 (for steel or aluminum, as applicable). The thicknesses shown are minimums. The ring of annual plates shall have a circular outside circumference, but it may have a regular polygonal shape inside the tank shell with the number of sides equal to the number of annular plates. These pieces shall be butt-welded in accordance with Q.7.1.1, Item b. The plates of the first shell course shall be attached to the annular bottom plates by a weld as required by API 620 oil tank 5.9.5 except when a full-penetration weld is used or required (see Q.7.1.1). Butt-welds in annular plates shall be not closer than 12 in. from any vertical weld.
Prefabrication requirements for API standard 650 low-alloy steel tanks, large vertical storage tanks:1. The machined surface of the edge of the steel plate should be smooth, and there should be no defects such as slag inclusion, delamination, cracks, etc., and the surface hardened layer produced by the flame cutting groove should be removed.2. Dimension deviation after steel plate processing: the deviation of plate width is less than 1.5 mm, the deviation of plate length is less than 2 mm, and the difference between diagonals is less than 3 mm.
