API 650 stainless steel storage tanks for liquids storage
The normal operation of API 650 stainless steel storage tanks includes receiving oil, storing oil, sending oil and measuring oil. The correct use and operation of oil storage tank is directly related to the production safety and oil loss of oil tank. In order to use and operate the API 650 stainless steel storage tanks correctly, it is necessary to be familiar with and master the structure and performance of the API 650 stainless steel storage tanks and its accessories, such as the maximum storage capacity of the oil tank, the pressure range that can bear and the safety fabrication specification.
Soil Structure Interaction: Soil structure interaction per API 650, Section E.6.1.6 may be used for OLE design providing the damping ratio does not exceed 10 %.Allowable StressesDesign allowable stresses shall be per API 620 large welded steel storage tank, Section Q.3.3, including the 33 % increase permitted for earthquake loads.Self-anchored Inner TankThe anchorage ratio for a self-anchored inner tank, J, shall not exceed 1.0 for the OLE design combination to limit uplift and stresses in the annular plate and corner weld.Foundation StabilityThe overturning ratio defined in API 650, Section E.6.2.3, Equation (E.6.2.3-1) shall be equal to or greater than 3.0 for the defined OLE event.
API 650 is the standard for welded tanks for oil storage. It specifies the API 650 stainless steel storage tanks design, manufacturing, welding, inspection and installation requirements of oil tanks. API 650 is widely used in storage tanks with internal pressure less than or equal to 2.5 PSI.
