API 650 ground supported tanks sheet and plate
This specification, in conjunction with API 650 Standard, prescribes minimum standards for the API 650 ground supported tanks design, supply, fabrication, erection, and testing of field erected welded steel storage tanks complete with accessories as specified herein and as shown on attached Datasheets and/or Drawings.
When welding API 650 ground supported tanks, in order to avoid weld deformation, it is necessary to use corresponding welding process according to the type of steel used in the tank, such as welding requirements of steel plate, welding position, etc. Reasonable arrangement of the assembly sequence, the use of subsection back welding and jump welding method, strict control of welding process parameters, rigid fixation measures, take corrective measures for deformation compensation are necessary.
Materials for API 650 ground supported tanks primary components shall comply with the requirements of Tables R-1 and R-2. All primary components shall be impact tested in accordance with R.2.1.2 through R.2.1.4. Impact testing of API 620 welded storage tanks plates, including structural members made of plate, shall comply with Table R-1. Impact test specimens shall be taken transverse to the direction of final plate rolling.
