A573 grade 70 plates API standard 650 self-anchored storage tanks
Due to irregular operation of API standard 650 self-anchored storage tanks welding, there are many weld deformations during the construction process. Before specific operations, most construction units have formulated relatively complete construction plans and set up special welding process instructions, but the operators have not fully performed welding in accordance with various process guidance requirements and construction specifications, resulting in some quality problems of oil storage tanks. How can we reduce or even avoid this kind of situation?
Soil Structure Interaction: Soil structure interaction per API 650, Section E.6.1.6 may be used for OLE design providing the damping ratio does not exceed 10 %.Allowable StressesDesign allowable stresses shall be per API 620 large welded steel storage tank, Section Q.3.3, including the 33 % increase permitted for earthquake loads.Self-anchored Inner TankThe anchorage ratio for a self-anchored inner tank, J, shall not exceed 1.0 for the OLE design combination to limit uplift and stresses in the annular plate and corner weld.Foundation StabilityThe overturning ratio defined in API 650, Section E.6.2.3, Equation (E.6.2.3-1) shall be equal to or greater than 3.0 for the defined OLE event.
Storage tanks API standard 650 self-anchored storage tanks built to these standards are spread across U.S. refineries, terminals, pipelines, and production facilities. The API 650 petroleum storage tank detailed standard specifies the design, processing, welding, inspection and installation procedures of the storage tank.
