Production Weld Tests
Production weld test plates shall be welded for API standard 650 stainless and carbon steel tank primary-component butt-welded shell plates when welding procedure qualifications are required to be impact tested per Q.6.2 and Q.6.3. The number of production weld tests shall be based on the requirements of Q.6.6.3 and Q.6.6.4. The locations impact tested (i.e., HAZ and/or weld deposits) shall likewise be the same as required for weld procedure qualifications per Q.6.2 and Q.6.3. Weld testing shall be in accordance with Q.6.6.5. Test plates shall be made from plates produced only from the heats that are used to produce the shell plates for the large welded steel tank.

The client required CEV 0.38%, S≤0.01%, 100% UT, Charpy V-notch impact test at-20℃, Z25 for S235J2+N plates. After they receiving the S235J2+N steel plates, the customer are very satisfied with the quality of this batch of API standard 650 stainless and carbon steel tank products.

The elastic filling and sealing of floating roof API standard 650 stainless and carbon steel tank is to fill the elastic and changeable objects in the sealed envelope, and the sealing purpose depends on the compression deformation of the filler. This kind of sealing effect is good, the requirement of the geometry of tank wall is not too high, and the adaptability is strong. However, the elastic filling and sealing has poor wear resistance and is easy to deform and damage in long-term use.
