Material requirements for API standard 650 liquid storage tanks
Sand blasting and derusting of API standard 650 liquid storage tanks uses compressed air as power and SiC, pomegranate sand and quartz sand as spraying materials to form high-speed jet beam, which is used to remove rust and dirt on the surface of metal storage tank and improve the binding force of workpiece with coating and plating material. Sand blasting is often used in API standard 650 liquid storage tanks construction.
A cylindrical nozzle with a 12-in. inside diameter is located in solid plate in the sidewall of a cylindrical storage tank 60 ft in diameter so that its axis lies in a horizontal plane and forms an angle of 55° with a perpendicular to the sidewall at the point of intersection, as shown in Figure F-7. The thickness of the API standard 650 liquid storage tanks sidewall plate, tw, in this area is 5/8 in., and no corrosion allowance is required. The total internal pressure, Pl + Pg, at the center of the opening is 26.1 lbf/in.2 gauge.
API 650 can store oil, gas, chemical, water and biofuel for some of the most common tanks in the oil industry. API 650 can store contents at a lower pressure (maximum of 2 PSI) but at much higher temperature (-40 degrees F to 500 degrees F) than the standards of API standard 650 liquid storage tanks. It can be any tank size.
