API 650 is widely used for tanks that are designed to internal pressures of 2.5 PSI or less and store products such as crude oil, gasoline, chemicals and API Std 650 welded storage tanks produced water. Advance Tank has extensive experience with API 650 tanks ranging in diameter from 8' - 300' for refineries, terminals, pipeline facilities and other clients.

The main contents of safety inspection for atmospheric storage tank, API Std 650 welded storage tanks are to see whether the tank foundation is sunk, whether the tank is corroded, whether there are cracks in the tank body and bottom, whether there is concave convex phenomenon on the top and wall of the tank, whether the accessories of the storage tank are in good condition, etc. After the API Std 650 welded storage tanks safety inspection and detection, the defects found in the tank should be handled according to the inspection rules in time to ensure the normal and safe use of the storage tank in the later stage.

The tank shall be filled with water to the design liquid level unless height is limited as noted in API 620 standard Q.8.1. After the tank is filled with water and before the pneumatic pressure is applied, anchorage, if provided, shall be tightened against the hold-down brackets. All welds in the API Std 650 welded storage tanks shell, including the corner weld between the shell and the bottom, shall be visually checked for tightness.
