CSA G40.21 grade 50WT plates API Std 650 floating-roof tanks

Floating roofs shall comply with API standard 650, Appendix C (Attachment 01) or with the API Std 650 floating-roof tanks requirements as layed (laid )down in the national Chinese specifications SH3046-92 and GBJ128-90.

The process parameters should be strictly controlled in sand blasting of API Std 650 floating-roof tanks. The working pressure of abrasive chamber is between 0.5 and 0.6a, and the outlet pressure of air compressor shall not be lower than 0.6 WPa. According to the test results, the distance between nozzle and workpiece shall be controlled at 80 - 200 mm and spraying angle of 30 ~ 75°is appropriate.

Foundations shall preferably be designed to resist the load exerted by the API Standard 620 tank and its contents when the tank is filled with water to the design liquid level. Foundations shall be designed at least for the maximum operating conditions including the wind load. During the API Std 650 floating-roof tanks water test, the total load on the foundation shall not exceed 125% of the allowable loading. If necessary, the water level during the test may be reduced below the design liquid level line so as not to exceed the 25% maximum overload (see Q.8.1.2).
