API Std 650 open-top tanks for liquid products storage
The welded API 650 tank in various sizes and capacities for internal pressures approximating atmospheric pressure (internal pressures not exceeding the weight of the roof plates), but a higher internal pressure API Std 650 open-top tanks is permitted when additional requirements are met.
Requirements for prefabrication of bottom plate of large vertical API Std 650 open-top tanks:1. The diameter of tank bottom should be enlarged by 0.1% ~ 0.15% according to the design diameter.2. The minimum dimension of edge plate along the radius direction of tank bottom shall not be less than 700mm.3. The distance between any adjacent welds of the base plate shall not be less than 300 mm.
API Std 650 open-top tanks Liquid Relief ValvesA tank, which is likely to operate completely filled with liquid, shall be equipped with one or more liquid relief valves at the top of the roof, unless otherwise protected against overpressure. When such valves are, in effect, supplementary relief devices, they may be set at a pressure not greater than 1.25 times the design pressure. Because the relief valve at the pump, which provides the inflow of liquid to the tank, is set at a pressure greater than 1.25 times the design pressure of any tank that may be built under these rules, provision should be made for preventing overfilling of the tank by a self-closing float valve, by some practicable pilot-valve control, or by any other proven device.
