API Std 650 closed top welded storage tanks structural shapes

In the actual welding of API Std 650 closed top welded storage tanks, operators will use more arc-shaped plates for tailor-welding to better adapt to the larger volume of oil storage tanks. In order to effectively control the deformation of the welding seam of the API Std 650 closed top welded storage tanks, a scientific and accurate prefabricated bottom plate is required. In the process of prefabricating the bottom plate of the oil storage tank, it is necessary to strictly follow the technical requirements for the construction of the oil storage tank. At the same time, it is also necessary to clarify the external dimensions according to its actual manufacturing standards so that it has sufficient shrinkage.

The opening pressure or vacuum of the pressure relief and API Std 650 closed top welded storage tanks vacuum relief valves shall be checked by pumping air above the water level and releasing the pressure and then partially withdrawing water from the tank. After the tank has been emptied of water and is at atmospheric pressure, the anchorage, if provided, shall be rechecked for tightness against the hold-down brackets. Air pressure, equal to the design pressure, shall be applied to the empty tank, and the anchorage, if provided, and the foundation shall be checked for uplift.

This standard applies only to API 650 tank API Std 650 closed top welded storage tanks whose entire bottom is uniformly supported and to API 650 tank in non-refrigerated service that have a maximum design temperature of 93°C (200 °F) or less.
