Material for the outer tank API standard 650 stainless and carbon steel tank and for the roof that contains the vaporized liquefied gas but is primarily subjected to atmospheric temperatures may conform to one of the following:
a)Table 4-1 for design metal temperatures down to –35°F (lowest 1-day mean ambient temperature of–35°F) without impact test unless they are required by Table 4-1 or by the Purchaser.
b)Table R-3 for design metal temperatures down to –60°F without impact tests unless they are required by Table R-4 or by the Purchaser.

For API 650 tanks Projection from outside of tank shell to extreme face of flange - plus or minus 5 mm. API standard 650 stainless and carbon steel tank Elevation or radial location - plus or minus 6 mm. API 650 tanks Flange tilt in any plane, measured on the diameter across the gasket surface - plus or minus degree but not exceeding 5 mm. Flange bolt hole orientation - plus or minus 2 mm.

In January, 2019, our South Africa customer purchased 669 tons S235J2+N carbon steel plates to use in their tank fabrication project . S235J2 steel, as a non-alloy structural steel grade, is mainly used in structural projects and tanks. J2 symbol -20 temperature impact test. The client required CEV 0.38%, S≤0.01%, 100% UT, Charpy V-notch impact test at-20℃, Z25 for S235J2+N plates. After they receiving the S235J2+N steel plates, the customer are very satisfied with the quality of this batch of API standard 650 stainless and carbon steel tank products.

Due to irregular operation of API standard 650 stainless and carbon steel tank welding, there are many weld deformations during the construction process. Before specific operations, most construction units have formulated relatively complete construction plans and set up special welding process instructions, but the operators have not fully performed welding in accordance with various process guidance requirements and construction specifications, resulting in some quality problems of oil storage tanks.
