Production weld test plates shall be welded for API 650 storage tanks primary-component butt-welded shell plates when welding procedure qualifications are required to be impact tested per Q.6.2 and Q.6.3. The number of production weld tests shall be based on the requirements of Q.6.6.3 and Q.6.6.4. The locations impact tested (i.e., HAZ and/or weld deposits) shall likewise be the same as required for weld procedure qualifications per Q.6.2 and Q.6.3. Weld testing shall be in accordance with Q.6.6.5.
