The safety inspection of atmospheric storage tank, API 650 insulated tanks is divided into external inspection, internal and external inspection and comprehensive inspection. The top course of the butt-welded cylindrical sidewall is 1/4 in. thick. The tank API 650 insulated tanks roof is a conical shape with a 2:12 slope and a 1/4 in. thickness with single full-fillet welded lap joints. The maximum design liquid level is 6 in. below the plane of juncture of the roof and sidewall.

Before the start of erection, inspect each API 650 tank foundation to ensure that it is level and acceptable to receive Work. Remove temporary erection attachments welded to the interior or exterior of the API 650 insulated tanks shell or to the bottom by arc gouging, and grind weld area smooth.
