API 650 horizontal tank liquid penetrant examination
Safety comparison between mechanical cleaning and manual cleaning of vertical storage tank, API 650 horizontal tank. Closed cleaning is adopted for mechanical cleaning. During the cleaning process, operators are not required to enter the tank. The inert gas space formed in the storage tank can prevent the occurrence of fire, explosion and other accidents. When the API 650 horizontal tank is manually cleaned, the operators should directly enter the tank for cleaning, threatening the health of employees, and there is no inert gas space in the tank, which is prone to fire and explosion accidents.
The reticulated API 650 horizontal tank shell API 650 storage tank is an important large-span space structure with high safety. Generally, the large-scale API 650 storage tank with a diameter of 21-60 meters or a volume of more than 20000 cubic meters should adopt the reticulated shell technology, which has been widely promoted and adopted in the world and China's petrochemical industry for more than 30 years.

Allowable Design StressesThe maximum allowable design stresses for the API 650 horizontal tank materials outlined in Q.2.1 shall be in accordance with Table Q-3.The values for the allowable design tensile stress given in Table Q-3 for materials other than bolting steel are the lesser of (a) 331/3% of the specified minimum ultimate tensile strength for the material or (b) 662/3% of the specified minimum yield strength, but they are 75% of the specified minimum yield strength for the stainless steel, nickel alloy, and aluminum materials. Allowable test stresses are based on the limitation of API 620 oil tank storage standard Q.8.1.3.
