API 650 carbon steel storage tanks for liquid products storage

Impact Tests for High Alloys
Impact tests are not required for the high-alloy (austenitic stainless steel) API 650 carbon steel storage tanks base materials, nickel alloy based materials, aluminum base materials, and weld deposited for the nonferrous (aluminum) materials. Impact tests are not required for austenitic stainless steel welds deposited by all the welding processes for services of –200°F and above. Austenitic stainless steel welds deposited for service below –200°F by all welding processes shall be impact tested in accordance with Q.6.2 except that the required impact values shall be 75% of the values as given in Q.2.2.2, Item c.

Compared with the fixed roof API 650 oil storage tank without API 650 carbon steel storage tanks floating roof, there is no evaporation space. In principle, this eliminates the so-called "large breathing loss". Evaporation not only causes the loss of product quantity, but also affects the quality of API 650 carbon steel storage tanks product and pollutes the environment.

Prefabricating API 650 carbon steel storage tanks components before construction can improve construction efficiency, save time and cost, and is currently a common method for the construction of large vertical storage tanks. The main prefabricated components of a large vertical API 650 carbon steel storage tanks include the tank body, the storage tank wall, the top of the storage tank, the bottom of the storage tank, and the accessories of the storage tank. The prefabrication of the components should follow a reasonable workflow, and carry out appropriate heat treatment and testing, so as to improve manufacturing accuracy.
