The coating on the outer wall of API 650 tanks can not only reflect light but also prevent corrosion. Different coatings for oil tanks have different reflective properties, and the reflective performance of coatings is expressed by reflection index. For example, the reflection index of white coating is 90.0, that of sky blue coating is 85.0, and that of light gray coating is 57.0. It can be seen that the white coating has good reflective performance, and coating the outer surface of API 650 tanks with white coating can reduce the evaporation consumption of the oil tank.

Heat-affected zone impact specimens shall be taken across the weld and as near the surface of the material as is practicable. The API 650 tanks material specimens shall be of sufficient length to locate the notch in the heat-affected zone after etching. The notch shall be cut approximately normal to the material surface to include as much heat-affected zone material as possible in the resulting fracture. Impact test specimens shall be cooled to the temperature stated in Q.22.

Lateral braces between outer bay rafters must be provided if asymmetrical structural shapes are used for rafters and if the API 650 tanks API 650 tanks are located in areas subject to earthquakes. The bracing must be adequately sized for the seismic zone specified.
