Fabricated to API standard 650 Welded Tanks for Oil Storage Shop Assembled API Std 650 larger diameter tanks storage tanks, these tanks are commonly used at oil and natural gas terminals, API Std 650 larger diameter tanks processing plants, and midstream facilities located along pipelines at the pumping, compression, or metering stations. API 650 storage tanks are designed and fabricated considering operating pressures up to 2.5 PSIG, corrosion allowance, wind loading, and seismicity.

The thickness of the API Std 650 larger diameter tanks wall plate, t, required by 5.10.3 for the latitudinal unit forces, T2, acting at this level is 0.57 in. The nozzle neck is seamless steel pipe and conforms to ASTM A53, Grade A; the materials in the tank wall and reinforcing pad conform to ASTM A442 Grade 55. The main joints in the tank walls are fully radiographed, double-welded butt joints. The adequacy of the reinforcement and attachment welds shown in Figure F-7 shall be determined.
To determine the length of the nozzle neck within the limits of reinforcement, the smaller of the following calculated values shall be used:(2.5)(0.625) = 1.56 in.
(2.5)(0.375) + 0.75 = 1.69 in.

The coating on the outer wall of API Std 650 larger diameter tanks can not only reflect light but also prevent corrosion. Different coatings for oil tanks have different reflective properties, and the reflective performance of coatings is expressed by reflection index. For example, the reflection index of white coating is 90.0, that of sky blue coating is 85.0, and that of light gray coating is 57.0. It can be seen that the white coating has good reflective performance, and coating the outer surface of API Std 650 larger diameter tanks with white coating can reduce the evaporation consumption of the oil tank.
