API 650 vertical tanks meet American Petroleum Industries (API) standards in design, material, fabrication, and testing of aboveground welded steel API 650 cylindrical liquid-storage tankstorage tanks for use in industrial applications.

Allowable Design Stresses
The maximum allowable design stresses for the API 650 cylindrical liquid-storage tank materials outlined in Q.2.1 shall be in accordance with Table Q-3.The values for the allowable design tensile stress given in Table Q-3 for materials other than bolting steel are the lesser of (a) 331/3% of the specified minimum ultimate tensile strength for the material or (b) 662/3% of the specified minimum yield strength, but they are 75% of the specified minimum yield strength for the stainless steel, nickel alloy, and aluminum materials. Allowable test stresses are based on the limitation of API 620 oil tank storage standard Q.8.1.3.

In the actual welding of API 650 cylindrical liquid-storage tank, operators will use more arc-shaped plates for tailor-welding to better adapt to the larger volume of oil storage tanks. In order to effectively control the deformation of the welding seam of the API 650 cylindrical liquid-storage tank, a scientific and accurate prefabricated bottom plate is required. In the process of prefabricating the bottom plate of the oil storage tank, it is necessary to strictly follow the technical requirements for the construction of the oil storage tank.
